Joe grew up on a farm in upstate New York, understanding the value of hard work and planning. He brings over 30 years of experience to Gunther Wealth Management, advising individuals, professionals, and businesses in a wide range of financial matters, including tax planning strategies, asset and investment management, 401(k) planning, general business consulting and charitable planning. He specializes in helping pre-retirees and retirees with the myriad of financial issues they face at this most important phase of their financial lives. His primary focus is on assisting clients in protecting and growing their wealth – now and for future generations.
Before beginning his private practice in 2004, he was an Account Executive for Citigroup, specializing in communicating retirement plan benefits for the New York Deferred Compensation Program and numerous hospital plans throughout Central New York State.
Joe's educational pursuits included St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, the College for Financial Planning of Denver, Colorado, and finally Merrimack College near Boston, Massachusetts, where his course work concentrated on legal issues associated with financial planning. Joe is a Certified Financial Planner Professional (CFP®) and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®). He is also a member of the Central NY Chapter of the Financial Planning Association and a proud member of Integrated Financial Group, a consortium of independent financial planners.
An avid scuba diver and skier, Joe is at home on snow or in the ocean. He spends many hours as a registered volunteer for the New York State Prison system, counseling inmates in applying positive principles that assist in transitioning into productive life in their community.
